Pan Fried Spicy Tofu

1 (16 oz.) cube of Tofu
1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground chili pepper
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons mirin
1/4 cup vegetable oil


Cut the tofu in half and slice each half into 8 pieces.  Drain well and press tofu with paper towel to remove as much moisture as possible.  Dust each piece of tofu with flour.

Heat a pan with oil over medium heat.   Cook tofu until golden brown on each side.

Combine all sauce ingredients and bring to a boil and remove from heat.

Arrange tofu on a plate and spoon sauce over tofu to serve.
