Lau Lau

Chunks of pork and fish are wrapped and steamed in taro leaves in this delicious Hawaiian dish.


3/4 lb. pork, cut into 6 pieces
3/4 lb. cod, cut into 6 pieces
1-1/2 lb. taro leaves
12 ti leaves
Hawaiian sea salt to taste


Season the pork and cod with Hawaiian sea salt.

Remove stems of the taro leaves and wash.  Wrap a piece of pork and cod in 6-8 taro leaves.  Place two ti leaves to make an X on a flat surface.  Place the wrapped pork and cod in the center of the ti leaves. Pull the ti leaves up and tie securely. Steam 4 to 6 hours in a covered steamer in the oven at 300 degrees F.
