2 lbs. pork spareribs, cut into 1 1/2″ pieces
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup vinegar
3-4 Tablespoon sugar
1 Tablespoon karo syrup (optional)
2 Tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup (optional)
If thickening is needed, add 1- 2 Tablespoon cornstarch diluted in water.
Remove fat from spareribs and cut between the bones into 1 1/2″ pieces. Brown spareribs in a skillet and season with salt. Once browned, remove grease, if necessary. Add garlic and vinegar, stir, cover and steam for 5 to 10 minutes. Add sugar, Karo (optional), ketchup (optional) and soy sauce. Stir and cook another 5 to 10 mins. Add cornstarch thickening if needed. Serve with hot rice.
May add: pineapple, green peppers, tomato, onion and pickled scallions.
