Sweet and Sour Chicken

Uwajimaya | Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe
Chinese-style sweet and sour chicken, stir-fried with bell peppers and pineapple chunks.


4-6 ounces lean boneless chicken
(boneless pork or 12 prawns also works)
peanut oil for deep frying

1 large egg
¹⁄3 cup milk
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking powder

²⁄₃ cup sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
3 tablespoons ketchup
¾ cup water
2 tablespoons cornstarch


Mix all sauce ingredients in a pan. Stir over medium heat until
sauce thickens.

Dip meat in batter and deep-fry until done. Set aside. Dip in
sauce or pour sauce over meat. Tasty twist: add pineapple, green
peppers, tomatoes and/or toasted sesame seeds. Serves 2.
