An Open Letter Regarding Coronavirus and Uwajimaya Practices

To the Uwajimaya community,
As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have an increased impact in our communities and as new developments unfold daily, I wanted to connect directly with you to share more about the steps we are taking to help keep our customers, employees and communities safe and healthy. I recognize the news headlines and the uncertainty can be unsettling especially with so much attention focused on international travelers and Washington State. Our thoughts are with those who have been affected.
Please be assured that the leadership team at Uwajimaya is closely monitoring the situation and is taking extra measures to keep our communities safe. These include but are not limited to increased cleaning and sanitization efforts, cancelling all food demonstration and sampling programs, having employees who are sick stay home and offering hand sanitizer stations within all stores.
We have no suspected or known cases of the coronavirus within Uwajimaya, are confident our stores continue to be safe and remain open for business. Just as we ask our employees to stay home if they are sick, wash their hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer and use safe coughing and sneezing hygiene practices, we ask the same of our customers.
We also ask for your patience and flexibility as our staffing and product supply levels may be impacted during this time. Our priority is the safety of our customers and employees.
Please note we do offer grocery delivery to select zip codes through Instacart (instacart.com/Uwajimaya) should you need an alternative to coming in.
