Mix together butter,
shortening, sugar and egg yolk in large bowl.
Stir together dry ingredients in small bowl and add to butter mixture,
mixing until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Beat egg white slightly with fork in small shallow bowl. Place sesame
seeds in another small shallow bowl. Roll dough into small balls, using
about 1 tsp. per ball. Dip balls in egg white, then roll in sesame seeds.

Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Press thumb gently in
center of each ball.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
Remove from baking sheet and cool. Fill thumbprints with preserves.
